The Quartz project came about when Funk Me co-founders Dean Eager & Andy Rowlett met up with PJ Carroll. The guys all share the same view that DJ ing can be too pigeon-holed and that in order to express their true talents they needed to form their own club night. Quartz believe that it is the DJ s job to play the right record for that moment within the broad music policy of the night and many promoters can be a little bit too controlling and specific (“can you stick to vocal, chunky, electro-tinged, speed-house?”!!!) and because of this the punters and DJ’s lose out.
