Step 1

Here's a quick way to make standard text a little more interesting. Start out by typing whatever you want with any font in any color, then rasterize the text.

Step 2

Now use the elliptical selection tool with no feather and select the top half of the text.

Step 3

Now use the dodge tool set for midtones at 50% and use a feathered brush. Drag this tool right across the bottom of the area you selected to brighten it up. Make a few passes here.

Step 4

Now click Edit > Stroke and add a 4 pixel stroke using the brightest color for the area you just brightened with the dodge tool.

Step 5

Now copy and paste the text and click edit > transform > flip vertical and put the new layer directly under the old one.

Step 6

Now use the rectangular selection tool set for a feather of 15 pixels and select the bottom 60% of this new layer and delete it. Then make this layer's opacity 20% and you have a nice trendy surface reflection.

Step 7

Now select your original text layer, copy and paste it, then click Image > Adjust > Hue and Saturation and bring the lightness all the way down to make this text layer black.

Step 8

Now in the layers palette move this layer below the others and click Edit > Transform > Distort and make this layer appear to be a flat shadow in perspective behind the original text.

Step 9

Now reduce the opacity of this layer to 20%.

Step 10

Using the rectangular selection tool with a feather of 20% select the top 20% of this layer and delete it.

Step 11

Now reduce the opacity of this layer to 20% and your done! Nice trendy reflective text!

what will happened if logo is rounded?

Then you would simply see less of the reflection. Sometimes this is better and more subtle, but may not be the best effect for every instance.

Well done, thanks for the share.
