In this tutorial I will show you how to create a simple but beautiful header. After all, it takes just a bit of time and effort to make unique header so there is no real reason to use generic one for your blog, forum or website when you can make your own just the way you want it to be.

Here, let me show you just how easy and simple making header can be.

Step 1

Let's begin by creating a new document with the following dimensions :

Step 2

Fill the background with any color you want, mine is #43b0c2.
Then open an image with an old paper.

Step 3

Adjust the image to fit your document using Edit – Free Transform (Ctrl + T). Change the layer blend to Multiply and lower the Opacity to 33% - or you can change it, depending on how much from the old paper you want to see.

This is what you have so far :

Step 4

Now let’s make some clouds. Make a new layer. Choose a color for the foreground. Mine is #d8f1f5.

Step 5

Go to Shape Tool and from there choose Ellipse Tool:

Step 6

Switch to Shape Layers:

Now hold down Shift, draw a circle, press the Add to path area and add 3-4 circles more, overlapping each other a bit.

Step 7

Now press right click and Rasterize layer.

Step 8

Double click the layer containing the circles in order to open the Layer Style Palette.
Here make the following changes:

Drop Shadows:

Inner Glow:

Bevel and Emboss:

Satin:

Gradient Overlay:

Make as many clouds as you want, I'll only make two.

Step 9

Make a new layer, go to Shape Tool and this time choose Line Tool. Draw a box using whatever color you want.

Step 10

For the next step grab the Pen Tool and draw some wavy lines, each one in separate layer and with different color.

Step 11

Make the wavy line:

Step 12

Press right click and select Stroke Path:

Step 13

You can check Simulate Pressure or not, try both ways and see what's best for you.
Select Brush from the drop down menu and make sure a soft brush is selected (you can select it from the Brush Tool).
Then apply shadow using Layer Style. Order the lines as if they are coming out of the box.

Step 14

If you don't want to do the same move 4 times (double click – drop shadow and select the value) you can make the settings for the first line and then just right click and select Copy layer style and Paste layer style to the next layer that you want to have the same settings.

But in our case we still have to change the color of the shadow.

Step 15

Now go to your Brush Tool and select brush with stars. Apply some on your design and that's all!
